Monique Hamaty-Simmonds and her
eight-year-old daughter Jayda, a student at Grace Christian Academy before the
family moved back to Miami this summer, attended the INC 500/5000 Awards Gala
held on 2 October in Washington DC.

“It was a very special evening…
to experience this celebration of successful businesses,” said Hamaty-Simmonds,
the president and CEO of the Tortuga Rum Cake Company. She founded the company
with her husband Marcus, who is the CFO. “Given the economic times, we are especially
proud of this accomplishment and strive to continue our growth,” she said.
