U17 success creates void

The success of Cayman’s Under-17
girls’ team last year in the CONCACAF finals that were also World Cup
qualifiers, have had a terrific ripple effect. The massive publicity the national
side received helped 10 of the squad to get scholarships to schools in the
United States. Because so many of Cayman’s top under-17 players are now playing
in the US or will be soon, or are too old for the U-17 side, the Cayman Islands
Football Association wants to recruit more players for its U-17 league, who are
not currently registered with any of the CIFA member clubs.

Interested girls will be provided
with the names of clubs that are looking to register players within this age group
and can register with the club of their choice.
