Dan is key Link for lowly Penguins

As youth hockey rolls on in Cayman
the Animal House Penguins are proving to be a tough team to beat.

The Penguins battled the Eats
Blazers to an 8-8 draw at the Logic arena of King’s Sports Centre. The match
was part of the Atom (10 and Under) division slate of games in the Logic Roller
Hockey League.

Unheralded star Danny Link kept the
Penguins in it with some great skating and chances on goal. Team-mate John-Ross
Clough was gritty on the defensive end, earning the defender player of the game
honours.

In spite of the number of goals
scored Turner Johnson kept the Blazers in the match and was their player of the
game. With that result Eats remain in first place while Animal House are still
in the cellar of the four-team group.

Meanwhile the Cedrus Capitals moved
up to number two in the league tables after their convincing 11-6 victory over
the WestStar Wild.

Benjamin Hepburn received the
player of game for his stellar performance meanwhile Jamie Williams was named
the Capitals player of the game after an impressive seven-point rally.

Over in the Peewee 13U division,
the Appleby Sharks continued their victory streak with 7-5 win over the Conyers
Canucks last Saturday. After going down early in the match, the Canucks rallied
thanks to front of player of the game goaltender Sean Whewell.

However Sharks player of the game
Adam Stainrod kept the team ahead with his four points on the day.

From there the KPMG Senators
handily defeated the Vampt Oilers with an impressive 10-3 final. Cameron
Bridgeman picked up a hat trick on the day to earn the Senators player of the
game while Oilers goaltender Michael Boucher was named player of the game after
facing 29 shots.

Over in the Novice 8U segment the
XN Financial Flames have continued to dominate the league tables.

After their victory over the dms
Bruins the Flames now have a two-game edge on the competition.

However XN Financial are being
chased up the table by the Dart Ducks who pulled off a very tight victory over
the Walkers Blue Iguanas. The Novice league’s players of the games were Lorena
Jones (XN Financial), Kayla Godwin (XN Financial), Will Jackson (dms), William
Priaulx (Dart), Sadie Finch (Dart), Jack McGregor (Walkers) and Jenny Purton
(Walkers).

This year’s Logic Youth Roller
Hockey League sees its sixth week of games this Saturday 6 November at King’[s
Sports Centre. A host of games take
place from 8am-4pm.

This weekend’s matches should be
action-packed as a number of the players are returning to the rink after the
mid-term school break.
