Bike ride for funds to Tampa

The Cayman Islands boxing team is
fighting in Tampa next week and to help raise funds for the trip they are
having a bike-a-thon on Saturday. It is from the D. Dalmain Ebanks Boxing Gymnasium
in the Truman Bodden Sports Complex from 7am and anyone wanting to participate
in the fun ride to the Turtle Farm in West Bay and back should just turn up
with their machine and be prepared to make a donation.

Eleven of Cayman’s finest amateurs
will be squaring up to opponents from the Hurricane Boxing Gym in Tampa,
including two women, Jessica McFarlane-Richards and Tracey Seymour. The males
making the trip are Tafari Ebanks, Dwayne ‘Doc’ Anglin, Kendall Ebanks, Jason
Parchment, Erick McField, Peter ‘Lightning’ Lewison, Aaron Powell, Dariel
Ebanks and Gino ‘Crusher’ Brown.

Head coach Donie Anglin said:
“Everybody has been training hard in the gym. Tafari and Kendall have been
particularly impressive and the girls have really stepped up and are in good
shape.

“There are lots of Caymanians
living near where we are going and I expect us to get good support from them.
We also want plenty of support for our bike-a-thon on Saturday morning.”

As well as Donie, assistant coach
Norman Wilson is making the trip, along with Troy O’Neil and Charles ‘The
Killa’ Whittaker who is trained by Wilson. Thomas Ebanks, the president of the
boxing association, will travel to ensure everything goes smoothly.
