Junior Achievement sells treats for the holidays

Great Expectations is a Junior
Achievement company that will be selling packaged sweets and treats this
holiday season.

The sales of their first product
offerings begin on 1 December. The products will range in price from $5 to $15.

Sponsored by dms Organisation, the
company consists of students from Clifton Hunter, CIFEC, John Gray and Cayman
Prep. Currently there are 13 employees that form the JA Company, with Julian
Solomon leading the group as company president.

“I am very excited about the
opportunities which lay ahead and I have no doubt that with the spectacular
employees of Great Expectations and the DMS advisers, that we will be a success
not only financially but in the character building experience,” he said.

Future customers who are interested
in product offerings and upcoming selling dates can check the Great
Expectations Facebook page, Great Expectations Cayman, or contact the company
directly at [email protected]. JA students earn a small wage,
roughly 50 cents per hour, and they make 10 per cent of their sales.  So they might go home with a pay check of a
couple hundred dollars.

Any net profits made by the
companies at the end of the year go toward scholarships and a programme that
sends some of the students to Canada for a JA training course. Junior
Achievement uses hands-on experiences to help young people understand the
economics of life.

In partnership with
business and educators, Junior Achievement brings the real world of business to
students, organisers say.
