Primary aim is to reach finals

The playoffs for the CUC Primary Football League begin on Saturday at the TE McField Annex Field.

Four schools begin their quest to retain their titles. In the Under-9 Champions Cup, defending champions St. Ignatius Prep face stiff opposition from Sir John A. Cumber Primary, George Town Primary, Bodden Town Primary, Cayman Prep, South Sound Schools, Triple C and NorthEast Schools.

In the Under-9 Consolation Cup, defending champions Truth For Youth will face Cayman International School, Savannah Primary, Red Bay Primary, Grace Academy and Wesleyan Academy.

In the Under-11 Champions Cup, defending champions St. Ignatius Prep will go head-to head with last year’s beaten finalists Sir John A. Cumber Primary as well as George Town Primary, Bodden Town Primary, 2010/11 Opening Rally champions Cayman Prep, Prospect Primary, Red Bay Primary and NorthEast Schools.

In the Under-11 Consolation Cup, defending champions George Town Primary qualified for the Under-11 Champions Cup this year leaving Truth For Youth, Cayman International School, Savannah Primary, South Sound Schools, Triple C and Wesleyan Academy contesting for the title.

Games begin promptly at 9am with two games being played simultaneously all the way until 3pm.

The 2010/11 PFL playoffs will resume on Saturday 8, 15 and 22 January with the semi-finals being played on 29 January and the finals on 5 February all at the Annex Field.

CUC’s Neil Murray said: “We encourage fans of the powerful game and youth sports in general to make their way to the Annex Field this Saturday to support our Island’s fabulous young superstars. It’s guaranteed to be entertaining and probably the most fun you’ll have all day.
