EE stay perfect

The sport of dominoes is officially into its Christmas break this week and East End will have bragging rights for many weeks to come.

That is because the district has produced the most dominant club in the 2010 local dominoes league. The East End All Stars beat Buttonwood at home last weekend to go into the holiday season unbeaten at 7-0.

With the loss Buttonwood drops to third at 5-2, just behind All Stars who have five victories.

The rest of the standings see Archies in fourth and Kelly’s in fifth as both sport four wins. The teams won their matches last Sunday over Helium (away) and Merengue Town (home) respectively.

Spots sixth through eight are taken up by team Helium, Singh’s Roti Shop and Merengue Town who all sport one win. Round two of the competition is set to pick up 30 January.

Cayman Islands Dominoes Association member and Helium team player Sheena Taylor states the season has bene good so far.

“The games have gone pretty well,” Taylor said. “The hardest thing in the beginning was for people to realize we have the league and we have rules. Some people didn’t like the rules but we’ve got on the same page which is good. Ultimately everyone is into it and it has been good, clean fun.”
