Co-ed flag football gets under way
soon and it looks like there will be more teams than ever.
This is the third consecutive year
that Butterfield has sponsored the Co-Ed Flag Football League.
The Cayman Islands Flag Football
Association begins the Butterfield Co-ed League on Friday 25 February and will
run until 29 April. Games will be at the Ed Bush Stadium in West Bay, each
Friday evening, beginning at 6pm.
Last season there were 16 teams. Under
new president Phil Brown, the sport can expect a lot of promotion this year.
Brendon Malice is the vice-president and Rex Whittaker is the treasurer. Lawyer
Sophie Dilbert is the secretary and Kathy Miller the new press relations
The team format is five on five and
the cost to enter a team is $500. This year introduces an A and B division, for
advance teams and for competitive teams respectively.
Each team cannot register more than
12 players and games are 40 minutes in length, with 20 minute halves. As with
last year’s rules, their must be a minimum of two females on the field at all
times. The rules are posted on the flag football website.
