Seriously injured driver found by cyclist

A passing bicyclist found a badly injured man inside a wrecked out vehicle in a remote area of Grand Cayman early Thursday morning.

The vehicle’s driver was being airlifted to a Miami hospital late Thursday for treatment.

According to the Royal Cayman Islands Police, at about 7.10am Thursday a man was cycling in
the Queens Highway area close to Bare Foot Gardens when he spotted a
badly damaged white Mitsubishi Pajero in the bush, approximately 75 feet from
the road.

The cyclist found the injured driver inside the Pajero, suffering from head injuries.

The 34-year-old driver was taken to the Cayman Islands hospital shortly after he was found.

Police said the man may have been lying injured
within the vehicle for several hours.

Inspector Adrian Barnett, of the RCIPS Traffic Management Unit, is
appealing for anyone who may have seen the white Mitsubishi Pajero driving on
the road between 7pm Wednesday and the time the vehicle was found Thursday.

Anyone with information should contact the RCIPS Traffic Management Unit
on 946-6254.
