Little rallies improving

The recent Cayman National sponsored event of the tennis tens series took place at the tennis club in South Sound with over 20 youngsters taking part.

Under Dale Avery’s guidance they honed both their ground strokes for rallying as well as their eye hand coordination. The children were also pretty exhausted by the end of the session as they were kept active throughout.

Activities were points based and on court one the champion was Liora Vandenries with the runner up being Ben Stainrod in a very tight contest for the top five places. On court two the runaway champion was Calum Lindsay.

Tennis Tens is a International Tennis Federation sanctioned scheme and thanks to Cayman National sponsorship the Cayman Islands was one of the first countries to introduce it.

It’s a great way for youngsters to keep active and improve their skills and move toward more tournament based tennis. It is open to any child who was born on or after 1 January 2000.

Any child who can rally the ball and wants to join should contact [email protected] The next event is being held soon at the Ritz Carlton.
