Police have arrested the husband of a 64-year-old woman who died Monday, almost a week after being injured in an accident involving the vehicle her husband was driving.
The husband, 64, was arrested at Owen Roberts Airport on Tuesday, 17 May, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He was the driver of a Suzuki Liana that collided with a black Chevrolet Colorado on Jubilee Lane, off Batabano Road, West Bay, around 9.45pm on Tuesday, 10 May.
The 23-year-old local man who was driving the Chevrolet was not injured in the crash.
The husband sustained a cut to his shin, as did a 58-year-old male passenger who was in the back seat of the Suzuki.
The driver’s wife, who was a passenger in the front seat, was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital after complaining of head and back pain and admitted for observation. Hospital staff informed the police Monday that the woman had died.
The couple had been visiting Cayman from Ohio, US.
Anyone who was in the area and witnessed the crash is asked to contact Inspector Adrian Barnett of the RCIPS Traffic Management Department on 946-6254.
