Deliha Ming is now $20,000 richer.
Ming had the winning ticket for the recent 2011 Cayman Islands Little League raffle. The ticket was sold by Karyl Miller, who received a free Cayman Airways flight to any destination.
Iris Zelaya was another big winner as she took home $5,000 as the second-place prize. Mercy Watler sold her the winning ticket. Five people earned the third place prize of $1,000 in Lana Cranston, Abygale DaCosta, Kamal Hydes, Yavani Medina and Frank Schilling.
Little League would like to thank everyone who supported the raffle by buying or selling tickets. Special thanks goes to raffle coordinator Pam Parsons and the KPMG audit team.
Proceeds from the raffle go toward funding the entire Little League program and loan repayment on the Field of Dreams baseball facility located in George Town.
News of the raffle comes after a number of programs like T-ball wrapped up last month. In 2011 T-ball saw 130 kids between aged 5-6 take part in morning games on the weekend. They were split up into eight teams sponsored by Logic (formerly Westel), Grand Old House, Crighton Properties, Yellow Pages, HSBC, Cayman Growers, KM Ltd and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
