Penny Palfrey, 48-year-old mother of three and grandmother of one, set a new world record on Sunday, 12 June, when she completed a 67.25-mile swim from Little Cayman to Grand Cayman.

She swam for 40 hours and 41 minutes, pausing for a few seconds every half hour to consume liquid food and drinks.

She broke the previous record of 63 miles which was held by three people.

Hundreds welcomed the Australian/British swimmer ashore at a beach in East End, chanting “Penny, Penny” as she came into sight.
