Three hurt in weekend crashes

Three people were admitted to the Cayman Islands Hospital following vehicle accidents over the weekend.

The first wreck happened just after midnight Saturday, when a Honda and a motorcycle collided on West Bay Road near 
Queens Court.

Royal Cayman Islands Police said the Honda had left the parking area at Queens Court and was travelling toward George Town when it was struck from behind by a motorcycle heading in the 
same direction.

A passenger on the motorcycle was thrown from the bike onto the road. Police said she suffered serious injuries to her pelvic area and abdomen. The rider of the bike also suffered serious abdominal injuries and the Honda’s driver suffered whiplash injuries.

All three were taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital. The driver of the car was released following treatment. The motorcycle operator and passenger were being treated in the hospital Monday.

The road crash occurred about 4.10pm Sunday when a car drove off the road into a concrete column on Ryan’s Road at Alto Way in 
George Town.

Police said the driver of the car had to be cut from the vehicle by fire service personnel. He was admitted to the Cayman Islands Hospital where is being treated for chest pains.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision, police said.
