Murder trial starts Thursday

The Cayman Islands Courts Office has advised that Grand Court jurors are no longer needed on Thursday, 11 August. They are to report instead on Monday, 15 August at 9.45am.

The only trial set to start Thursday is that of Devon Anglin. Anglin has elected trial by judge alone, so the start date will not be affected by the jurors schedule change.

Anglin is charged with murdering four year-old Jeremiah Barnes and did appear in court on Monday for mention of his matter. He was represented by John Ryder QC, instructed by Attorney Lucy Organ.

The case for the Crown is being conducted by Andrew Radcliffe QC, assisted by Crown Counsel Elisabeth Lees.

Justice Howard Cooke will preside.
