Money to churches is wrong

It took me some time to think about this money give away that the Cayman Islands Government recently gave to select churches, and although I would not get mixed up in the affairs of any church, this one thing that went on between the present day government and the churches involved millions of dollars.

That money, in this great time of need by the whole public, should not have been given to any church; after all, we have heard of all the money that was wasted in the past government and with all the projects that are still on line to be finished out there hanging and waiting to be completed. This includes our boat ramp in Bodden Town. This money is another bad idea and wrongful spending by the present government.

As always, when it comes to getting something done for the people of Bodden Town that would improve our town, we are left out.

We do not need another shelter; we have two already and four playgrounds. That money that this present government is wasting a lot of is needed in Bodden Town. Our three elected members had better get off their behinds and really help the people of Bodden Town. Look at what has been done for our town since 1980; very little compared to many of the other areas of Cayman.

The first capital has been left out. Do not give our well needed money to churches that fight against each other in the name of Jesus and have their own money while doing it. Many of them really do not assist John Public with anything except to take the money out of their pockets on their days of worship. We must not, as any government, give money directly to the churches. We need many things in this country like trade schools, boat ramp, cruise ship dock, schools completed, elder peoples’ needs, homeless peoples’ houses and much more, so why give or spend our well needed money foolishly?

The talk about PPM wasting money, well what do you call what this present government is doing? The only thing they want for my town, Bodden Town, is to turn it into a dump. Well just like the cruise ship port in Half Moon Bay, the present government had better rethink that one, for Bodden Town is no place for any dump. All of the Bodden Towners who would like to have a dump put in the first capital should leave and go to West Bay; the most perfect place to put a dump.

The dump would fit well down there. That way when the dump is blown by the wind, it will not blow over two thirds of the Island. It can blow out to sea and off the Island quickly. The same applies to the dump catching fire; the smoke will do the same.

Most of the time the trade winds blow from East End over the Island to West Bay. So we have a lot of things being done by this present government that is not wise with the peoples’ money and more.

As I think about the churches and the great money gift, I was made to wonder why it was done. Perhaps if we look at it another way: If you give the churches millions of dollars from the peoples’ savings with government, what stops the giver and the receiver going on with some kind of scam?

I do have my rights to look at all the angles. Anyway, I feel that it was also wrong for the churches to accept the money. The people of these Islands that pay all this money in taxes should have been the ones who decide how these millions should have been spent. Stop wasting money that is needed to build things needed by John Public like a proper boat ramp in Bodden Town and to all the churches, try and join the government and try to put a stop to crime because the police need all the help they can get. Do something good with all the money that was given to you besides build your churches bigger. God does not need money, only sinners do.
