Champagne will be flowing ahead of a three-course meal at this year’s Breast Cancer Gala Dinner on Saturday, 15 October at the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.
The black tie event, which starts at 6pm, begins with a champagne reception followed by the dinner, dancing, and silent and live auctions
James Bovell, director of the Breast Cancer Foundation, said, “Apart from raising funds, the gala also aims to raise awareness to a growing need for support. Breast cancer touches everyone. It may be your aunt, your daughter or your friend, but unfortunately we all know someone who has been affected.”
The first Breast Cancer Gala Dinner in October 2008 was planned as a one-time event. Due to its success and the big need for funds in the community, Kim Lund and James Bovell of RE/MAX Cayman Islands have decided to make it an annual fundraiser. The evening celebrates the survivors and raises funds for local not-for-profit organisations – the Cayman Islands Cancer Society and the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens.
“The Breast Cancer Foundation raises funds to support this fight in the Cayman Islands,” according to the foundation’s website. “We want to ensure that everyone is aware of the importance of early detection and has the necessary access to the care they may require.
“Our local survivors are proof that we can overcome this battle with breast cancer and win. Through the support of the Breast Cancer Foundation we can make a difference, by giving the gift of hope, support, health and life, one survivor at a time.”
