Equipment allegedly not returned
An officer who left the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service more than six years ago appeared in Summary Court as a defendant on Tuesday.
Andrew Thomas Scott is charged under the Police Law, attorney Shaun McCann told Magistrate Nova Hall.
Details of the charge are that Scott, as an officer who resigned in July 2005, failed to hand over government properties issued to him during his time of employment. The items listed are: a ballistic vest, a gun holster, a blue police T-shirt, an orange police reflective vest, blue cargo pants, a police badge, a charger, portable blue lights, a black police vest, Motorola radios and batteries – all the property of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.
Mr. McCann said his client is a businessman with permanent residence and he requested bail be continued until the next court appearance. His bail was continued and the magistrate set the matter for mention again on 6 December.
