Maritime Authority implements online document portal

The Maritime Authority of the Cayman Islands has implemented a new controlled document portal using technology from an Isle of Man-based company.

The total cost of the project with PDMS is £38,046 (or about CI$51,391 at current exchange rates), according to documents provided by the Maritime Authority. The request for proposal was sent out in April, and submissions were due in May. The original tentative deadline for the project to be completed was 10 June.

The document portal is designed to allow Maritime Authority employees around the world – and on a restricted basis, public users – secure online access to up-to-date company documents. According to a PDMS news release dated 29 November, the company already works with many international ship registries.

According to the news release, “PDMS is providing the controlled document portal as a complete Managed Service, which includes hosting, ongoing support and maintenance as well as secure back-ups, resilience, monitoring and built-in disaster recovery. The project delivery deadlines were tight and PDMS was able to customise their FoundationsTM document management solution to meet all of MACI’s specific requirements, complete testing, training and roll the system out within a 12-week time frame.”

PDMS Director Bruce McGregor said in the news release, “In a competitive marketplace, our FoundationsTM document management solution has proven to be a great asset when it comes to helping organisations to not only manage their corporate documents, but also in providing their employees with secure access to these essential documents from anywhere in the world.”
