Intense search and rescue efforts were under way Monday afternoon for a teenage swimmer who went missing off Grand Cayman’s south coast.
According to the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, a male jumped into the water near Pedro St. James Castle around 4pm Monday. Another male jumped into the water to assist the first swimmer.
One of the swimmers did not return to shore and police had to call off the search around 6.30pm because of dark and worsening weather conditions.
Both marine units and the RCIPS helicopter were used to assist in the search for the missing swimmer, which will resume Tuesday morning.
