A number of veteran talents are leading the way in co-ed flag football.
Heading into the Cayman Islands Flag Football Association 2012 co-ed league playoffs, a pair of teams are unbeaten. The Wolverines and the National Building Society ended their regular season campaigns 6-0 atop the B and A division respectively.
Guiding the Wolverines were regulars Oliver Parker, Zoenief Anderson and Alexandra Saintvil. Brendon and Lisa Malice steadied the building society. League coordinator Perry Levy states the playoffs now get going next week.
“No games are scheduled this week during the Easter holidays,” Levy said. “The playoff bracket will commence on 13 April as the semi-finals, finals and after party (at Club House) will all occur on that Friday. It will be another great night of football and fun. Each division winner will receive a championship trophy and $150 tab at Club House.
“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the teams and sponsors and look forward to next year. Many thanks to all who contributed to yet another successful season and good luck to the “Elite Eight.”
The Wolverines would finish ahead of Club House (5-1), Cobras (3-3) and Island Air (3-3). The building society meanwhile topped 4-2 Maples, 4-2 Argonauts and 4-2 Child Please!
In all, 14 teams took part in the league. Aside from the regulars, the competition attracted new talent like Gary Rutty. Games took place every Friday at the Ed Bush field in West Bay.
