The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Investment Conference kicks off today, Tuesday 24 April, in Puerto Rico.
Now in its 16th year, the collaboration between the Caribbean Tourism Organisation and the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association attracts about 400 delegates from 23 Caribbean countries, the United States and the United Kingdom.
Among the delegates are architects, designers, developers, financial advisers, hotel chain executives, hotel owners, lawyers, lenders, mortgage brokers, real estate agents and timeshare developers. There are also tourism and government officials from the public sector.
The event includes many networking opportunities as well as general and specific sessions related to challenges and opportunities for Caribbean tourism. It takes place for two days and is centred around the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel and Casino Conference Centre.
Presentations, speeches and discussions take place with high-profile individuals from major companies, hotel chains and government.
The Caymanian Compass has been specially invited to attend and will be covering the event in detail during the days and weeks to come.
