From Tuesday this week, CINICO patients will be required to register their CarePay cards at the Cayman Islands Hospital for medical services.
The new registration process is the latest step in the implementing a real-time adjudication system which tracks insurance coverage and payment of patients.
CINICO and the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority issued a notice this week warning patients that due to the implementation of the new registration process, patients may experience slight delays at the hospital.
“There may be delays in registration but the HSA is deploying additional staff to all areas to minimise inconvenience to our valued patients,” a release from CINICO and the HSA read.
Starting from 1 October last year, all CINICO patients were issued with CarePay cards, which gave them access to an instant insurance verification system. Initially, their CarePay details were handled manually, but the new system involves swiping the cards to give instant access to the patients’ billing and authorisation information.
The cards have magnetic strips identifying patients and their coverage, which enables them to be immediately verified and validates their eligibility for specific coverage and benefits.
The CarePay card replaced the CINICO card. It has been issued to all of CINICO’s more than 13,000 members.
All CINICO patients are now required to present their CarePay cards and a form of photo identification when they go to the hospital or health clinics for treatment.
