Police charge former Housing board member

Police charged a 60-year old man with nine counts of deception on Monday, nearly eight months after he was arrested. Police have not identified the man.

The deceptions occurred in the man’s capacity as a high-ranking member of National Housing Development Trust board of directors and the charges involve three counts of obtaining money by deception; one count of attempting to obtain money by deception; four counts of obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception; and one count of attempting to obtain a pecuniary advantage by deception.

According to a police statement issued when the man was arrested last October, he was arrested in accordance with sections 13 and 17 of the Anti-Corruption Law, as well as suspicion of obtaining property by deception.
