Triple-header marks late start

Co-ed softball had a delayed launch this week but will offer plenty of intrigue.

The Cayman Islands Little League is staging the opening wek of matches in the 2012 Fall Adult Co-ed Softball League. The Field of Dreams facility in George Town saw a triple-header on Wednesday with another slated for Thursday, 26 July.

The league was stalled to allow teams to fully pay their registration fees. The impact on scheduling will be teams having to play two games in some weeks. In general, fall programme will be much smaller than the winter season. There are currently financial commitments for five division I teams, five division II teams, five Division III teams and three D League teams.

By playing cross division games, the schedule will see division I teams playing six different opponents, division two teams playing eight different opponents, division three teams will play nine different opponents and D League teams will play seven different opponents. D League teams will play on the bigger fields with the regular ball for this season.

Thursday’s action starts from 6.30pm with G-Force battling the PWC Scorpions on field three. At 8.15pm, field three sees Coors Light Chuggers facing the BritCay Premiums while field four sees Rhino Rebar battling Home Gas.
