6th arrest in CNB heist

Royal Cayman Islands Police have now rounded up a sixth suspect in connection with a June bank robbery along West Bay Road.

The 36-year-old suspect in the 28 June Cayman National Bank heist was arrested in Jamaica and will be returned here to face charges, police said.

Four men were already charged in the bank robbery that was foiled when their getaway vehicle smashed into an armoured van that was parked in front of the bank offices, located in Buckingham Square.

A fifth suspect, a 40-year-old woman, was arrested a few days after the robbery took place.

The men appearing in court 3 August on charges related to the robbery were: Rennie Cole, Andre Burton, George Mignott and David Tomasa.

All four pleaded not guilty to one count of robbery in which $502,436.17 was stolen in both US and CI currencies.

The men also pleaded not guilty to one count of possession of an unlicensed firearm from the incident in which they were alleged to have used an imitation firearm with the intent of committing a robbery.

  1. Good police work. It just goes to show that you can run but you can’t hide, the long arm of the law will eventually get you.

It is hoped, when all is said and done and there are convictions, these guilty thugs will be given sentences to the fullest extent of the law.

Keep up the good work, law enforcement.
