A police car sustained major damage and an officer suffered slight injuries after the patrol car crashed into a building late Friday night in Grand Cayman.
According to the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, an officer driving a marked Dodge Charger east along Shamrock Road near Manse Road crossed over the westbound lanes and then crashed into the building.
The officer was on duty and patrolling when the crash happened, police said. He was released after seeking treatment at Cayman Islands Hospital on Saturday in George Town.
Police said the officer was suspended from driving police vehicles until the outcome of the crash investigation, as is normal police policy.
