It took the Leo Club of Grand Cayman more than five hours Saturday night to crown the winning Miss Teen 2012/2013 – 17-year-old Nordania Stewart.
With a platform to promote volunteering among the youth of the Cayman Islands, the George Town beauty charmed the judges to win Best Smile, Academic Excellence and the Community Excellence awards during the event at the Lions Centre in Grand Cayman.
Tears of joy streamed down her face as Ms Stewart accepted the crown from outgoing teen queen Brooke Parchment and Leo chairwoman Jamie Rogers before taking her walk to an appreciative audience.
Twelve intelligent and talented`young ladies vied for the title of Miss Teen Cayman Islands. Although a well put together show, the pageant was considered by some to be far too long. A bit of flurry among those doing the tally had the audience taking up the time by rooting for their favourite contestant.
Nevertheless, the girls were stunning and received big rounds of applause from audience members.
The Miss Teen winner, Nordania Stewart, wearing a stunning strapless shimmering blue evening dress, dazzled the judges to become the pick of the night.
She also captured the titles of Best Smile, Academic Excellence and Community Excellence. Ms Stewart was sponsored by R&R Auto Body Shop.
Just as pretty was first runner-up Glennique Bodden wearing a light blue with gold sequence evening gown. Ms Bodden, sponsored by Sta-mar Enterprises and Webster’s Tours, won the People’s Choice Award and Best In Gown.
Alexandra Anglin, sponsored by APS Security Ltd., was crowned second-runner-up. She won the titles of Most Talented and Best Legs. Shemika Ebanks-Gooding took the Miss Personality title, Alyssa West earned Most Improved and Kelsie Woodman-Bodden claimed Miss Photogenic.
