Charge details indicate the crime netted $229
Travis Kelvin Ebanks entered pleas of guilty on Friday to charges of robbery and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit robbery.
Before Grand Court Justice Carol Beswick, he admitted entering the Eastern Avenue Texaco Gas Station in Grand Cayman on 31 May and stealing $229 from the cashier. The charge is robbery because at the time of stealing the money, and in order to steal it, he put the cashier in fear of force. No details of the incident were given during Ebanks’ brief appearance in Grand Court.
Defence attorney Prathna Bodden advised that there had been several social inquiry reports as well as psychological and/or psychiatric reports done for this defendant. She suggested it would be helpful if they could be updated before the sentencing hearing.
Ebanks, 31, was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Friday, 19 October.
