Slammers call key

Local dominoes is gearing up for more slamming.

The Cayman Islands Domino Association will be launching a 2012-2013 national league on Sunday, 11 November. The association is inviting all interested clubs to register by 19 October.

News of the league comes after the last competition earlier this year saw East End Mystical Youth, team DLK, Island All-Star and Archies emerge as the top four teams.

East End, behind talents like Fred McLaughlin, had a 13-1 record, 4,198 points and a score of 65. DLK, behind Sheena Taylor, were second at 11-3 with 4,145pts and a 55 score. Island All-Star, featuring players like Ray McLaughlin, were third at 8-6 with 4,0007 pts and a 40 score while Archies were fourth at 7-6-1 with 4,095pts and a 37 score.

Archies, whose home turf is Archies Bar in George Town, would edge out Singh’s Roti Shop, who came fifth at 7-6-1 with 3,981pts and a 37 score.

Sea Inn finished sixth at 4-10 with 3,901pts and a 20 score, Kelly’s were seventh at 4-10 with 3,411pts and a 20 score and Eastern Star were eighth at 1-13 with 3,487pts and a five-point score.
