A wine education

Most adults will happily quaff a glass of wine or two, but how many of them really know anything about what they are drinking? Can they tell a merlot from a pinot noir?

Help is at hand, thanks for Premier Wines and Spirits, who hold weekly wine tasting events on Thursdays, between 5 and 7pm.

“Our wine tastings are always complimentary as we want to educate people about the different wine varietals whilst also allowing them to try them,” says Charlie Loxton, store manager at Premier.

Each week is different, so one week it might be Kiwi Sauvignon Blancs and another it might be Argintinean Malbecs.

Once a month Premier teams up with a local restaurant for a food and wine pairing. On Thursday, 18 October, Edoardo’s will be providing delicious Italian inspired appetisers in store, which Premier will pair with some of their award winning wines.

The following week, on 25 October, the wine tasting will focus on Pinot Noirs from New Zealand.

Later in the year you can look forward to cheese and wine pairings, all things bubbly, reds from the United States and more.

Anybody who is interested in trying some new or lesser known wines is welcome to attend these wine tastings. It’s the perfect opportunity to try before you buy.
