Guilty pleas entered to theft charges

Sentencing postponed until 30 November at Defence request

David Keith Self, 53, pleaded guilty in Grand Court on Friday in Grand Cayman to two charges of theft and one
of possessing criminal property.

Self admitted stealing Canadian $717,388.70 belonging to Warco Insurance Company between 12 January, 2011, and 29 December, 2011.

He further admitted stealing US$125,000, the property of Warco, between 9 May, 2011, and 24 January, 2012.

The third charge, to which he also answered guilty, was possession of criminal property, namely US$675,000,
being funds stolen from Warco.

Defence attorney Ben Tonner said there were 18 counts on the original indictment, but it had been amended to the three.

Crown Counsel Michael Snape did not present any details of the offences.

Justice Alexander Henderson set Friday, 30 November at the request of counsel.

According to records kept by the Caymanian Compass, Self was brought before the Summary Court in March and had been in custody since.
