Three lucky winners will get to experience the Legends Tennis tournament at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, thanks to Legends Tennis and Cayman Free Press.
The first prize of a two-night stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman as well as two VIP tickets for each night and two tickets to the Whites after party went to Jacob Kunzer, who said that his son was behind his entry.
“I take my son to school every day at Cayman Prep, and every day we would see the truck advertising the competition and he would say ‘Dad, you should enter that contest’ so he harassed us enough times that we decided we would enter the contest,” he laughed.
Although his son, Jacob, may be a bit young to have seen the likes of Stefan Edberg or even Martina Hingis in their prime, he said he is excited about the upcoming tournament.
“I was very looking forward to the tournament and I just couldn’t believe that we’ve won it. I have not seen any of them play before, but I know I will be able to watch a very interesting match of tennis,” he said.
The second prize went to Alanna Grace, who won four general admission tickets across the three days of the tournament.
“I have been coming to this competition for the last few years now – I was actually one of the line judges a couple of years back, so I was always going to come, but then I saw the competition on cayCompass.com online, and I always enter the competitions but I never win anything, but this time I won, so I’m very happy,” she said.
With much less pressure while sitting in the stands and better access to beverages as well, she said she was looking forward to watching the matches from the relative safety of the stands as opposed to staring down the serves of top former professionals.
Brigitte Tomascik claimed the third prize of two general admission tickets across the three days and said that although she is not an avid player she loves watching tennis.
“I just entered the competition – I never win anything and this year I won two things! I love watching tennis and I was actually at Wimbledon last year and saw Rafael Nadal play,” she said.
The Legends Championships will take place at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman from 30 October to 3 November.
