Police charge two men over courier robbery

Authorities in Grand Cayman have charged two men in connection with a daytime armed robbery of a courier on 4 October in the parking lot outside an insurance company in George Town.

A spokesman for the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service said Sunday that two men from West Bay, ages 50 and 32, are expected to appear in court on Monday, 22 October to answer to charges of robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Police said shortly after 1pm on 4 October an armed man held up a Sprint company delivery driver outside the BritCay House building on Eastern Avenue. No shots were fired and no one was hurt.

The suspect fled the scene in a white Mitsubishi Gallant, of which a second man is believed to have been the getaway driver. Authorities said the Mitsubishi was recovered a short distance from the crime scene.
