Cop charged in off-duty crash

A Royal Cayman Islands Police officer now faces criminal charges in connection with allegations that he fled the scene of an accident last month.

The accident occurred on 14 September while the 54-year-old officer was off-duty. He was arrested a short while later.

Police said the officer was charged with a number of road traffic offences including careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

The officer remains suspended from driving police vehicles and is currently on bail pending his court appearance, according to the RCIPS.
