YCLA advice

Year 4 students at Sir John A. Cumber Primary IB World School in West Bay recently were given valuable tips on leadership by Garth Arch, winner of the 2012 Young Caymanian Leadership Award.

Mr. Arch spoke to them about the qualities, challenges, and expectations of good leaders and stressed that outstanding and effective leaders must have GOALS.

This stands for G for God first; O for Others next, including having a love for them and being committed to helping them; Attitudes must be positive; L for Learn, students were told to learn as much as they can and have a deep interest in their education; S for Sacrifice, they were encouraged to be willing to give up the less important or significant in order to achieve their goals.

The students were assured that by so doing they will develop strong and positive characters, which all good and aspiring leaders should have.

The principal, teachers and students congratulated Mr. Arch on his achievement and thanked him for his advice.
