Ultra take down Rodney’s boys

The latest local domino season got off to an explosive start.

The Cayman Islands Domino Association 2012-2013 national league saw its season-opening matches last Sunday in George Town. Ultra defeated Singh’s Roti Shop by 96 points. The star players for Ultra were Chistan Freeman and Alvin Lettford and the stars for Roti were Rodney Valle and Fred Martin.

In the second contest, Archies crushed Sea Inn by 134 points. The star players for Archies were Maurice Beachan and Emill Bartley and it was a team effort on Sea Inn’s part.

The next scheduled matches will take place this Sunday, 18 November, from roughly 2pm in George Town. Mango Tree sees Island All Star battle East End Mystical Youth while team DLK hosts Eastern Star at DLK Bar.

The domino association will look to build on the momentum from its 2011-2012 season, which crowned East End as national champs for the second consecutive year. The Mystical Youth would win the regular season crown with a league-best 13-1 record, 4,198 points and a cumulative team score of 65.

East End, behind Brent Greene, would defeat the league’s top teams in the playoffs. DLK went in second at 11-3, All Stars were third at 8-6 and Archies were fourth at 7-6-1.
