Police: Child struck by taxi

A four-year-old cruise ship passenger is being treated in hospital for leg injuries after being struck by a taxi van in the Public Beach car park Thursday afternoon, Royal Cayman Islands Police reported.

The girl, a Mexican national who was visiting Grand Cayman with her family for the day, approached the taxi van just before 2pm Thursday, police said.

The child apparently fell and was struck by the vehicle. She was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital suffering from leg injuries. She is currently being treated and her injuries are not thought to be serious.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call West Bay police station on 949-3999.

  1. Well, let’s not be too harsh in our generalisation. Yes, some taxi-drivers are reckless, but all the ones my wife and I have driven with (mainly to the Airport and back) have been careful and courteous.
