Two male Cuban detainees, Wilfredo Alarcon and Francisco Perez Rodrigues, were discovered missing from the Immigration Detention Centre in George Town late Thursday.
The private security company that manages the centre discovered the two were missing from the holding facility during a routine head-count. Immigration, police and other law enforcement agencies were immediately alerted.
Wilfredo Alarcon, 22, is 5′ 8″ tall and weighs 130lbs. He has short black hair and brown eyes.
Francisco Perez Rodrigues, 23, is 5′ 6″ tall and weighs 160lbs. He has short black hair and brown eyes.
The two men were part of the group of 25 Cuban migrants that arrived in late 2012.
In addition, a second group of five migrants arrived on 27 December, bringing the total number of migrants in detention to 30. Immigration officials said this number represented the largest total of Cuban migrants held in detention on Cayman for several years.
