Filmmaker looks to promote Caribbean

Cayman featured in forthcoming documentary

An independent filmmaker has featured George Town in a forthcoming documentary.

The film, “Villes Des Iles – Cities of the Caribbean”, is slated for completion in July and is the brainchild of Patrick Baucelin.

It follows up on his successful 2012 documentary, “Secrets of the Fortresses of the Caribbean”.

The Martinique-based producer said that took him three years to shoot and edit in total.

Since its release, the documentary has won nine international awards including one at the New York Film Festival and a gold award from a Houston film festival. “[I felt] incredible, fantastic, rewarded after a lot of work. At the New York Film Festival, I was the only French winner,” he told the Compass.

Although Cayman is not included in that particular movie, Mr. Baucelin said it felt “very good to promote the Caribbean”.
