Pole fire causes power outage

An electricity pole fire caused power outages in George Town
Monday afternoon.

According to the power company Caribbean Utilities Company,
a pole fire on North Sound Road, opposite the CUC building, was responsible for
knocking out power in the district after 2pm.

“CUC crews are currently on location and will restore power
as soon as it is safe to do so,” a statement from the company read.

Power had been restored to some areas by 2.45pm.

Spokeswoman Pat Bynoe-Clarke said CUC was ramping power down
in different grid areas and would be restoring power when safe.
