Political critiques par for course

Letter to the Editor

I agree that there are some politicians whose only strategy is to divide and conquer.

However, it must be recognised, that it is very difficult to constructively criticise a person or group, without either gaining some support for your thoughts, or some rejection of the points being revealed in your criticism.

I find your Thursday’s editorial more divisive than the statement from the actual perpetrators you have identified in your valued column.

The public has come to expect that politicians will criticise their opponents, whether warranted or not.

In the case of the two opinions expressed by the people in the editorial, neither one of these can be said to be an unjustified criticism, given the various conflicting messages and attitudes of the persons mentioned in their “attacks”.
