Meet Bolgie, a long-term shelter resident who has been patiently waiting for his forever home for over two years. This sweet boy has been in a foster home for just over month and is blossoming now he is away from shelter life. Bolgie is a big boy – about 70 pounds – but don’t let this put you off – he is one of the most gentle, friendliest, happy-go-lucky dogs you are ever likely to meet. Indeed, his tail never stops wagging!
Bolgie is about 5 years old, is house trained and is getting to grips with “sit”, “stay” and his favourite “treats”.
This sweet boy loves going to the beach for a dip in the sea, or for a walk. Unfortunately, when he came to the shelter he was in bad way having been left by his previous owners to fend for himself.
He had a poor front paw, which resulted in one of his toes having to be amputated. Because of this, he walks with a very slight limp, so short, regular walks work best, or a long walk with regular breaks. He also needs a little bit of practice on the leash as he tends to get a little over excited, but he is getting the hang of it.
Bolgie gets on great with other dogs – he is living with three others. However, he would be fine as an only dog too. Bolgie really would make a loving four-legged friend and a lovely loyal companion. If you are ready to open your home to a pooch, please consider Bolgie! Contact the Humane Society and ask to speak to Bolgie’s foster parents who will be able to tell you everything about this sweet boy.
The shelter is located within minutes of Seven Mile Beach at the A.L. Thompson’s roundabout. Phone: 949-1461 or e-mail [email protected] Shelter Hours are Monday through Friday: 11am to 5pm Saturday: 9am to 4pm You can now donate online here.
