The ace Cayman Islands Winter Music Festival is three years old this year and to celebrate reaching toddlerhood there’s a set of ace DJs coming down once more.
The Heineken-presented festival is really starting to make a name for itself on the dance music circuit and it is becoming a must-stop for revellers on their way to the Miami Winter Music Conference, which follows.
The fest takes place on 15, 16 and 17 March and is located at Calico Jack’s and Public Beach. The lineup for the beach events on Friday, 15 and Saturday, 16 March features visiting international DJs as well as talented disc spinners based here. Cayman being the cultural melting pot that it is, of course, locally-based DJs are also from all parts of the world as well as Caymanian talent.
The festival will also be filled with various food and clothing vendors as well as local artists showing off their talents.
The talent…
Friday, 15 March: Music starts at 6pm and goes to 2am. A stage will be set right on world famous Seven Mile Beach providing a beautiful setting the festival opens at sunset.
- Stonebridge : Since tapping into the musical mainstream with his remix work for artists such as Taio Cruz, Britney Spears and Missy Elliott he has become a Grammy Award nominated producer and DJ
- Lizzie Curious: Returning to the Cayman Islands Winter Music Festival, due to popular demand, for the third year running, Lizzie Curious is a DJ, singer, songwriter and producer.
- Jonesian: Jonesian has opened or closed concerts for world famous artists such as DJ Jazzy Jeff, Beyonce, Naughty by Nature, L’il Wayne Depeche Mode.
- DJ Von : DJ Von is, without argument, one of the toughest DJs to hit the Cayman circuit in recent times, blazing a trail throughout Canada, Miami, Orlando, Jamaica and St. Maarten.
- Skrelick : Skrelick (Alex Pash) started Djing in the mid 90s in Eastern Canada alongside performers such as Maestro Fresh Wes, Choclair, Len, 2 Unlimited and Young MC.
Saturday, 16 March : Music starts at 4pm and goes to 12am.
- Tim Cullen (Ministry of Sound): 2012 was a monstrous year for Tim Cullen. He performed alongside Michael Woods, Laidback Luke, Fedde Le Gande and Armin Van Buuren at venues such as Ministry of Sound (London) and Pacha (London and Munich).
- Billy Corduroy: Billy Corduroy’s recent stint around the globe included gigs in South Africa, Greece, London and the Full Moon party in Koh Pha Ngan, Thailand.
- Kylo Zacky : With a keen ear at his disposal he displays a musical knowledge and affinity for the groove far beyond his years.
- Alexi and Jeffrey James : Alexi and Jeff, both hailing from Canada, have created a popular, crowd pleasing duo who seem to fill dance floors wherever they go.
- DJ Beatdown : Born and bred in Grand Cayman, his passion for music is only matched by seeing the smiles on his friends’ faces as they enjoy his music.
Sunday, 17 March:
- Billy Corduroy and Lizzie Curious headline the 2013 Heineken Presents Cayman Islands Festival Boat Trip with a special guest possibly making an appearance. Priced at $25 per person in advance, tickets are limited. The 2011 and 2012 boat trips sold out immediately upon being announced.
