The University College of the Cayman Islands will host its second candidates’ forum of the 2013 election season Wednesday.
The event, set to start around 6.30pm at UCCI’s Sir Vassel Johnson Hall, will focus on the topics of youth, education, employment and crime.
“We have young people as young as 15 on our campus, as well as mature learners who themselves have 15-year-old children or grandchildren,” University President Roy Bodden said. “It is therefore fitting for us to host a forum that focuses specifically on these topics as they are certainly interlinked.”
The last debate, held 20 February, featured corruption and governance as topics and was attended by five prospective candidate.
Candidates confirmed for Wednesday’s event include; independents Winston Connolly, Tara Rivers and Stefan Baraud, People’s Progressive Movement hopeful Kenneth Bryan, United Democratic Party candidate Jonathan Piercy and government Health Minister Mark Scotland.
Invitations to participate were sent to all candidates, UCCI officials said.
