CNB robbery trial starts 8 April

Five accused of stealing CI$502,436.17 by putting persons in fear of force

Five men appeared in Grand Court on Friday afternoon with their attorneys for final arrangements before their trial on charges relating to last year’s robbery at Cayman National Bank in Buckingham Square off West Bay Road.

George Eric Mignott, Rennie Cole, David Tomasa, Andre Nicholas Burton and Ryan Adrian Edwards have all pleaded not guilty to charges of robbery and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit the robbery.

Details allege that, on 28 June, 2012, at Buckingham Square on West Bay Road, the five men stole CI$502,436.17, comprised of US and CI currency, from Cayman National Bank and at the time of doing so put persons in fear of force.

Burton alone is charged with being an accessory after the fact: driving a getaway vehicle with three men alleged to have committed robbery, knowing or believing that they did on the same day commit robbery, with intent to impede their apprehension.
