BAF a boost for kids

The BAF Insurance Company has partnered with the extended after school programme It Takes a Village to keep struggling after school activities for children in Cayman’s public school’s going.

It takes a village is a free programme that provides structured youth development activities to approximately 1,400 student across Cayman’s public primary and secondary schools. The mission of the initiative is to provide students, schools and communities with an outlet for the continuation of academic, recreational and mentoring activities after the school day is over. In addition to providing supervised learning activities, free food and bus transportation is also provided for participants.

The programme is a joint initiative between the Ministry of Education, Financial Services and Employment, the Department of Education Services, the George Town Sports Club and the Ministry of Education since its inception in 2011, but due to recent budgetary constraints the effort is now at risk of ending within then next few months as it won’t be able to meet operational expenses.

In an attempt to provide support, BAF Insurance Company has donated $5,500 to the cause and has further committed additional resources to develop and spearhead a community fund-raising campaign. All money collected from the fund-raising drive will go directly to help the not-for-profit administrators reach their $70,000 goal to allow the programme to continue throughout the year.
