Kirk helps Meals on Wheels

Kirk Market recently donated $5,500 in Kirk Kurrency to the Meals on Wheels Charity.

The Meal on Wheels programme started with Martha McField an elderly widow who began cooking for her elderly neighbours and friends back in the early 1990s. Later it was taken on by Rehoboth Ministries in partnership with Rotary Club of Grand Cayman. Together they grew it from its humble beginning of feeding 14 seniors, three days a week to feeding approximately 170 seniors a day, five days a week, in three districts.

“Meals on Wheels is very thankful to Kirk Market for it generous donation of $5,500 given on April 5th. This money will pay for 1,375 meals of the 44,460 meals prepared annually. Thank you Kirk Market,” says Beulah McField co-founder and programme director.

Kirk Market gives customers $2.50 back in a Kirk Kurrency coupon for every $50 spent in the store on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays redeemable against their next purchase.

As part of the Support a Charity Program, customers are given the option to donate their Kurrency to a charitable organisation and Kirk Market matches what is given.

“We are very happy to support our local charities and especially our senior citizens who are in need,” says Craig Gaskill, general manager. “We extend a big thank you to our various customers for their donations and for continued support of Kirk Market.”

Kirk Market is a family owned business, owned and operated by the Kirk Connell family and management teams.
