The celebrated Marylebone Cricket Club is on tour in the Cayman Islands playing a series of matches, giving clinics and umpiring tips and after three matches the visitors are 2-1 ahead.
London-based MCC are world renowned coming from the home of cricket, Lord’s in St. John’s Wood.
Captained by Roland Horridge, the side comprises of former Test player Gavin Hamilton and top quality players like Keith Medlycott, Matthew Friedlander and Richard Young and former Test umpire John Holder.
Managed by Steve “Hendo” Henderson, MCC won the first match at Smith Road Oval by 20 runs last Thursday. On Saturday, a President’s XI defeated MCC by one run at the Jimmy Powell Oval in West Bay.
Cayman’s outstanding contributors were opener Ramon Sealy, who scored 62, and Denrick Gayle from Cayman Brac, who hit 32 runs and took a couple of wickets.
MCC won the third game against the Cayman national side in West Bay on Sunday by four wickets.
MCC face Village Greenies next on Tuesday, 23 April, over 40 overs at the Smith Road Oval from 12.30pm. Then the visitors face a Cayman Select side at Smith Road on Wednesday in a Twenty20.
The final match is on Thursday against the Cayman national side at Jimmy Powell Oval, again Twenty20, from 1pm.
