KPMG A are officially Cayman’s best co-ed softball team.
In a rematch of the 2012 Fall Co-Ed Softball League A League championship game, Home Gas and KPMG A squared off for the 2013 Spring crown. Home Gas prevailed last season but it was KPMG A that came out on top this time by a final score of 14-9.
There were many excellent defensive plays made during the game with Ryan Ebanks and Alexis Camacho making all of the plays on the left side of the infield for Home Gas. KPMG A played an almost flawless game defensively but there were two plays in particular that stood out as Danna Hickey made a couple of amazing stretches and game-changing catches at first base.
KPMG A’s offence was led by Richard Campbell as he went deep twice and had five Runs Batted In. Rob Weins also put one over the fence and Shawn Lundt came through with an inside the park home run. Gregg Arnold set the table for the power hitters by going 3-for-4 in the lead-off spot and he scored three times.
Peter Whittaker hit one out for Home Gas but it came with no one on base so the damage was limited.
The pitcher for KPMG A, Doug Harrell, stated that, “the game was one of the best my team played during the season as it always takes a great game to knock off Home Gas. We look forward to continuing our rivalry next season.”
The Cayman Islands Little League Association’s 2013 Winter Adult Co-Ed Softball League is still in the midst of its playoffs. The B and C league finals took place this week at the Field of Dreams facility in George Town with the D league final slated for next Monday, 13 May, at 6.30pm.
